If players want a way of dealing with pesky enemies and those dreaded Symbiotes, then the Sonic Burst is the gadget that they need. With so many enemies for two Spider-Men to deal with, the Ricochet Web will ensure that their web shooters are always working above and beyond to counter the dreaded weaponry of the enemies that they will face in New York City. The Ricochet Web will help players web up multiple enemies, shooting enemies one after another. Gadgets are an important aspect of being Spider-Man, almost as much as saving people and keeping a secret identity in a pretty cool superhero outfit. When it comes to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter and Miles will have access to 5 gadgets, with each of them providing the two Spider-Men with new ways of dealing with the criminals of New York City. A new addition to Spidey’s tech, Concussion Burst knocks back all nearby enemies with a blast of concussive force.

Unfortunately, Shocker is one of Kraven’s victims, and among the first characters to die at Kraven the Hunter’s hands. While it is unclear if the games will follow this route, the introduction of Cindy does tease the potential for yet another Spidey to join the fight. When she first meets Peter in the comics, he notes that while she is not as strong as him, she is faster. She also has the power to shoot webs out of her hands and a stronger variation of Peter’s Spidey Sense, known as Silk Sense. Other than these small differences, she possesses the exact same powers as Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. That’s a great shame for PC players, who are still holding out hope for a port of the title in the near future.

They’re unique as they’re the only collectibles in Spider-Man 2 that aren’t marked directly on the map (unless you unlock a specific perk). Instead, you need to locate them by the large colorful spheres they pulse periodically. Accompanying a new trailer, below, Spider-Man 2 on PC drops the hard PSN requirement for PC players and adds advanced raytracing features such as DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction. Though not as prominently featured as some of her other villainous counterparts, Black Cat remains one of the most important characters in the game.

Marvel’s Spider-man 2 Editions

There is no multiplayer co-op at all, but you can switch between Miles and Peter whenever you want while roaming the open-world of crime-ridden New York City. Both come with unique, individual abilities, as well as snazzy, iconic suits from the movies and comic books. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is taking players on another amazing adventure across Manhattan but before you start web-swinging and slinging, you’ll need to learn the controls. The latest adventure keeps much of the same button layout as the previous games, though it does include an extensive moves list with some new additions, so it’s worth taking a refresher of the controls.

Discussions regarding a proper sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man began during the game’s development, with open story threads for future titles being teased across both it and Miles Morales. Jim Pirri and Tony Todd join the cast as the voices of Kraven and Venom, respectively. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was officially released on January 30, 2025, for PC, continuing the narrative from its predecessors. The game features a compelling storyline, expanding the Spider-Man universe by introducing new enemies such as Venom and Kraven the Hunter.

Immediately recognisable, the Sandman himself makes an appearance in Spider-Man 2 as the first main boss of the game. Marko has grown to massive proportions and is kicking up a storm of sand and wreaking havoc on the city. g28 is something of a tutorial fight, so you are walked through how to beat him and avoid his attacks as you play as Peter and Miles. The only villains we get are Kraven, Venom, Sandman, The Lizard, and Mysterio (kind of).

Ginga Suit – Miles

Scream will be appearing as one of the symbiotic adversaries in the sequel game. Like Venom, Scream possesses a deadly arsenal of abilities that makes her a nightmare for New York residents. There’s the FEAST headquarters, lots of quirky murals, small shops, and restaurants. This Spider Bot, Spider-Armor MK III, is found in the Northern end of Upper East Side. On the map screen, look for the El Train tracks cut through the middle of the district from North to South.

Peter starts his first day as a physics teacher at Brooklyn Visions Academy with Miles among his students, but they are interrupted by a rampaging Sandman, requiring both the Spider-Men to subdue him. Fired for abandoning the class, Peter returns to his Aunt May’s home in Queens–which he has moved into following her death[b]–to meet with Mary Jane. They are surprised by Harry, who has miraculously recovered from his terminal illness. Harry hires Peter to work at his environmental technology startup, the Emily-May Foundation (named after Aunt May and Harry’s mother Emily), so they can pursue his dream of “healing the world”. While overseeing a prison transfer with Peter at The Raft, a vengeful Miles fails to stop the Hunters from capturing Martin Li, who previously killed his father, Jefferson Davis.

And the way both characters’ powers grow over the course of the story are very satisfying. The first game laid the groundwork for how fun swinging as Spider-Man can be. So make sure your reaction time is sharp before you don the super suit.

Now, in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players alternate between both heroes with the press of a button. Peter’s trying to hold down a new teaching job at Miles’ high school, while Miles has his hands full with college applications. You’ll watch them navigate their intersecting civilian lives while teaming up to protect the city. Spider-Man 2 is the future of polished, competent, elevated sequels, and brings with it so many technical flourishes and a perfect execution of the formula that it stands in a class of its own. They’ve gotten bored with chasing game in other parts of the world, but NYC’s heroes and villains represent a new challenge. Traces of the symbiote remain in Peter’s psyche until Miles and Mister Negative fully purge the symbiote from Peter’s body, giving Peter Anti-Venom powers in the process.

In the crossover event SECRET WARS (2015), Miles and his supporting cast are integrated into the primary Marvel Universe after the multiverse is recreated by Reed Richards. Miles and Peter maintain a mentor-protégé dynamic, though Miles is based out of Brooklyn, as opposed to the games placing him and his family in Harlem. Insomniac has confirmed that this suit pack will be coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at no additional cost at a later date.

The plot points are outlandish, the themes muddy, and Miles doesn’t really have enough to do. None of that’s necessarily a dealbreaker, though—the real problem is the characters. Though not wildly different mechanically (they’re separated mostly by a different set of combat powers), the two do feel impressively different, largely thanks to top notch animation work and a commendable attention to detail. How much this dual protagonist feature actually adds to the game is a little questionable I think, but the execution is undeniably slick. You swing freely around New York, taking on whatever missions and activities you choose.
